CHANGING LIVES

Young Adults with Disability Group – In partnership with SSI

Wednesday:  10.00 am – 12.30 pm

Young Adults with Disability project intended to address issues of isolation and limited social skills faced by young adults with disabilities within our community. The target group for this project is people with a disability from aged 18-34 and who live in the Fairfield and Liverpool LGA’s.

 

Multicultural Community “Social Tapestry”

Laura Wigdorovitz  (Art & Craft teacher and Visual-Artist)

This project is a call for a collective art-engagement with Fairfield-LGA’s multicultural community, aiming to create a tapestry to raise awareness of diversity, equality and inclusion. People together will envision a positive outlook that will improve their self-esteem and well-being. The group will learn about conflict management strategies and communication skills. Facilitators will encourage reflection on the role and relationship between the different art pieces that make a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

 

Seniors “Circle of Fun” – In partnership with FrontLine Seniors

Assistant:    Tanya Ortiz (Project Assistant)

This project will involve elders isolated from Fairfield’s multicultural community in the design and creation of toys made from recycled materials, which will be delivered to a special person of their choice. The facilitator will stimulate Seniors to recover their sense of joy and happiness, encouraging peer support to strengthen their relationships and empowering them as a group and individually.

Monday:  7.00 pm – 8.00 pm

Pilates focuses on posture, core stability, balance control, strength, flexibility and breathing.

 

Staying Active Over 50’s  –  Vitality Club’s Program

Accredited Instructor:  Rossana Braga

Wednesday: 9.30 am – 10.30 am

Friday:  2.00 pm – 3.00 pm

Staying Active Program is a combination of cardio and resistance exercise for all over 50’s, targeting fall prevention.

Children 6-10 years of age

It is an educational program designed for children from 6 to 10 years old with the aim of preventing overweight and obesity problems at an early age, to decrease the chance of developing chronic juvenile diseases such as Diabetes type 2, which is very prevalent in our local community, and other chronic conditions.

CALD COMMUNITY

Spanish Speaking Women “Your Voice Your Key” – In partnership with Woman in Action

Facilitator:  Ana Maria Attianese (Accredited Art-therapist and Counsellor and Project Officer of Woman in Action)

This project arises from the needs of an on-going women’s group. They have chosen to organise a series of 10 workshops to learn creative writing and drama techniques to launch a Slam Poetry event open to the broad community. Slam poetry is an artistic oral expression that combines elements of writing, drama, and audience participation; it includes deeply emotional topics related to social and personal issues.
