Positively impacting people's lives and lifting our community

CALD Community

Spanish Speaking Hub

We have been motivated to create this program for the Spanish-speaking community because we have a large percentage of clients who speak Spanish that come to our organisation requesting assistance.
Spanish-speaking community has an enormous diversity. Spanish speaking people bring along to Australia a wide variety of cultural practices and customs.
Spanish is the first language for a large number of people who arrived in Australia from many countries including: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guinea Equatorial, Honduras Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Perú, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Women in Action

Woman in Action (Mujer en Acción) strives to empower Latin-American Women in Australia, helping them to find their identity, purpose, potential and destiny.
To provide a place for them to come together, where culture and life is respected, and where woman will grow in all aspect of her life.
This is a comprehensive program that gives women the opportunity to work through very relevant and practical issues in their lives, which includes – among others – self-esteem, anger management and conflict resolution.

Tradición Chilena (Chilean Tradition)

Chilean Tradition is a folk dance group founded in March 2019, in the south-west of Sydney. The ensemble was created following interest from a group of people over the age of 40 who wanted to develop artistic and cultural activities.
The aim of Chilean Tradition is to showcase some of their culture through folk dance and help immigrants stay close to their roots while in Australia.
Chilean Tradition is made up of:

  • Eugenio Awad – director and choreographer with a long history of folk dance in Chile and Australia.
  • Edith González – ballet choreographer with a distinguished career teaching stylised dance.

The group features 12 dancers, all with different levels of experience, but eager to continue experiencing and exhibiting their Chilean roots.
